Mathematical fluency involves having a breadth of mathematical knowledge, being able to reason mathematically and compute accurately, efficiently and flexibly (NCTM, 2000). The unique approach in DMF is based on published research with students and the meaningful and engaging activities have been carefully tested in classrooms. Emphasis is placed on problem solving, fractions, decimals, and percent. DMF focuses on building mathematical understanding and computational proficiency rather than drill and practice.
