R. C. Balfour, III has strung together many humorous and amusing stories which follow the course of his life. His first two chapters relate anecdotes about his “legendary father,” R. C. Balfour, Jr., who successfully fought his way through the Great Depression to become a successful industrialist, an avid sportsman, and a community leader. On his first midshipman’s watch, the author was steering a great battleship out of Chesapeake Bay on a rough and stormy night. He is leading the fight for student government at the University of Georgia. He is teaching the clergy of the Diocese of Georgia about Christian Stewardship. He is playing a major role in the integration days of Thomasville and telling many untold stories about the community’s successful and peaceful move forward. Beautiful wildlife prints by Brandon Godwin and other noted wildlife artists are featured as they relate to the stories.

Reviews

Summing It Up by 9 time author, devout Christian, and timber, R. C. Balfour III could have easily been called A Southern Gentleman’s Guide to Winning. In the pages of this book, you will find the character of a strong man making his way through life. Faith, service, family and education have steered Balfour in his incredible journey. They are the essence of his being. His education in life was not only found in school, but in living.
